Young People

SHFPACT engages with over 10,000 young people in the ACT each year through our health promotion activities inside schools, colleges and universities in Canberra. SHFPACT also procudes a large number of resources, safe-sex packs and information products like websites to give young people all the information they need to make an informed choice when it comes to their sexual and reproductive health.  

Clinical Services

SHFPACT's Sexual and Reproductive Health Clinic (located at Level 1, 28 University Avenue, Canberra - next door to The Uni Pub) offers a comprehensive and holistic sexual and reprodutive health service, including for young people. Our service is completely confidential, and there is no consultation charge for young people under the age of 18. Full-time students up to age 25 will be charged only the Medicare rebate (so there is no out-of-pocket expenses). To make an appointment, phone the SHFPACT Clinic on 6247 3077 or SMS 0400 770 999.

Education & Health Promotion Activities for Students in ACT Schools

SHFPACT has developed a range of workshops and education sessions for students in ACT schools, ranging from Primary School through to College, which can be delivered by male and/or female educators on request. 

Topics can include puberty, relationships and friendships, human development, contraception, safe sex, relationships, consent, sexual assault, pregnancy, bullying and harassment, and other topics relating to sexual and reproductive health.
Education and health promotion activities can be tailored to small or large groups of students, and to meet the needs of the school and/or parents. Contact the Education & Health Promotion Team at SHFPACT on 6247 3077 to discuss your needs, or for more information.

PASH - Promoting Adolescent Sexual Health

PASH is an education & training course for young people interested in becoming peer educators. The course is designed to increase the communication and assertiveness skills of young people, and equips them with the knowledge and skills required to promote good sexual and reproductive health. The course also encourages the delay of sexual activity, and an increase contraceptive and safe sex behaviours in young people who are sexually active. A Train-the-Trainer Program can also be delivered to school staff wishing to implement the program in their school.
