Talking to young people about puberty, relationships and sexuality is a challenging and rewarding task. Teachers, nurses and youth workers often feel the responsibility of addressing this important work, but lack confidence or resources to do it effectively. SHFPACT provides nationally accredited professional development opportunities in Canberra to make these conversations easier. |

SHFPACT supports school communities by providing parents and carers with engaging, interactive presentations that cover the rationale for comprehensive sexuality education delivered within their children’s school. SHFPACT's Parent Info Evening is a session focusing on communicating with children about sexuality. This session complements the sexuality education program being delivered at school. Practical strategies make this workshop both informative and enjoyable. Current resources and support services for parents are show cased during this session. SHFPACT can also provide information about effective communication with their children about relationships, sexuality and reproductive issues, as well as resources, to support sexuality education in the home. Feedback received from parents who attend school-based SHFPACT Information Evenings is consistently positive. Parent Information Evenings can be booked by schools, colleges and community groups - contact your child's teacher or principal to request a session or phone the Education, Health Promotion & Training Team at SHFPACT on 02 6247 3077. |
