We are looking for enthusiastic, engaged individuals to join our governing Council.

Council members need to share SHFPACT’s values, including honesty, commitment, diversity, social justice, and human rights, and care about promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights in the ACT community in a person-centred and pro-choice framework.

We seek candidates who possess, or are eager to develop, a range of skills including: financial, not-for-profit governance and policy and advocacy experience in sexual and reproductive health. We are also seeking people who are interested in taking on a leadership role on the Council.

The Council is keen to ensure its composition reflects and is connected with the community SHFPACT serves, and we encourage applications from people of all genders, ages and backgrounds, and particularly welcome expressions of interest from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people with lived experience of disability.

ABOUT SHFPACT

SHFPACT is a not-for-profit, non-government, membership-based organisation, providing services in Canberra for over 40 years.

SHFPACT's purpose is improved sexual and reproductive health for the Canberra community, within a framework of human rights, social justice and prudent financial management for long-term sustainability.

SHFPACT is a leader in sexual and reproductive health workforce development, health promotion and clinical service delivery to reduce barriers to improved sexual and reproductive health.

ABOUT THE COUNCIL

The SHFPACT Council is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the organisation and for delivering accountable corporate performance in accordance with the organisation’s values, goals and objectives.

The SHFPACT Council meets one evening a month for two hours, either virtually or at the SHFPACT office in Canberra’s Central Business District. In addition to regular meetings, the Council will occasionally consider issues via email intersessionally and has a small number of ‘extraordinary’ meetings each year to discuss strategic items in detail. Overall, Council members need to be prepared to commit between three and five hours per month for meetings, preparation, and other engagements. Appointed council members will have the opportunity to nominate for a two year term at the 2023 Annual General Meeting (November 2023).
