Sexual Health and Family Planning ACT has been working in the Canberra community for over forty-five years providing reproductive and sexual health education, respectful relationships, social skills, and social safety supports for children, young people, and adults with disability.
SHFPACT is registered with the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) provider.
Our NDIS Services
We provide information, education and training support for parents, carers and support-workers.
Group Programs for People with Disability and/or Autism
All group programs can be funded under the 'Capacity Building - Increased Social and Community Participation' part of your NDIS plan.
Individual supports for people with disability and/or with autism
Counselling
Individual Counselling at SHFPACT focuses on people’s knowledge, personal strengths, and goals in overcoming challenges in sexual health and relationships. SHFPACT counsellors are qualified mental health professionals who will assist people to increase knowledge and develop skills to meet goals.
Education
Personalised Education Sessions at SHFPACT are designed to support people to achieve their relationships and sexual health goals. They are one-on-one with an experienced educator who will tailor content and discussion to suit the needs, interests, and goals of the individual. Educators utilise visual and conceptual tools from the SoSAFE! Framework for promoting social safety.
Support for Parents, Carers and Professionals
SHFPACT provides evidence-based training and support for parents, carers and professionals working with people with disabilities.
This can include:
- SoSAFE! User Training
- Individualised SoSAFE! User Training
- Participation in case conferences
- Clinical supervision for teachers, disability workers or other professionals
- TQI training for teachers
Training for parents and carers be funded under NDIS package (Capacity Building, Improved Daily Living).
